Historical win for the National Karate Federation of the Republic of Moldova. Nicolai Bondarev wins the bronze medal at the World Karate Championships in Madrid. 144 countries participated at the event. Thus, the Moldavian athlete ensures his presence on the world podium in four consecutive editions: Paris 2012, Bremen 2014, Linz 2016 and Madrid 2018.
Moldova was represented by 5 athletes: Andrea AXENTI, Gavril SARÎ, Rodion ONCIULENCO, Alexei GARȘTEA.
The World Championships was held in Madrid from 6 to 11 November 2018.
It is important to note that karate will first be presented at the Olympics at Tokyo 2020.
